Israeli envoy to UAE tells I24NEWS ‘more countries will join Abraham Accords’

Amir Hayek tells i24NEWS that the relationship between the Jewish state and the Gulf states is like “driving a car fast without reverse gear”

Israeli ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Amir Hayek told i24 News Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who will visit Abu Dhabi, said in an interview that he believes more countries will join the “Abraham Agreement” and that the relationship between the Jewish state and the Gulf states is “like a car without reverse gear.” Cars are moving fast.”

“Prime Minister Netanyahu is coming to Abu Dhabi, I’m sure you’ll have heard that a day or two ago,” Hayek told i24 News.

“We have a great relationship with the UAE. We are moving forward like a startup is going to be a unicorn. Everything is falling into place in every aspect of the relationship.”

How about the recent Reconciliation between Saudi Arabia and Iran Affecting regional relations with Israel, Hayek is sure it will not prevent more countries from joining the Abraham Accords – the 2020 US-brokered agreement involving a handful of Arab countries, including the UAE, Normalize relations with Jerusalem.

“The Saudis and the UAE are sovereign nations. We can get our message across and they know exactly what we think about Iran and its plans. We want Iran to focus its time and money on education or health rather than terror in the region . I’m sure our friends here understand exactly what we’re talking about,” he said.

“I think we’re going to see more countries join the Abraham Accords or expand the deal with Israel. The main problem is to be very successful, so other countries will ask themselves, ‘Why not us? “That’s our job here, and the rest will follow. When the time comes, we’ll be ready.”

Two years after the Abraham Accords came into force, there have been numerous bilateral agreements between Jerusalem and Abu Dhabi in various fields: tradingtourism, technology, innovation, and perhaps most importantly – a fusion of cultures, underscored by last week’s celebrations of Israel’s independence in the Gulf states.

“We had a huge event in Abu Dhabi. We celebrated Israel Independence Day for the first time. We had 650 guests gather and sing to celebrate. Stand there and listen to the national anthems of Israel and the UAE sung by Emirati and Israeli singers , was such an emotional moment, they sang ‘You and I will change the world’. I heard a lot of Emiratis around me and it touched their hearts,” he recalled.

“We are here to change the world, to change the Middle East, to build a better world for the next generation. Together with our UAE partners. Relationships are high. It’s like a car going fast forward without reverse gear. “
