exclusive: Ley Line Entertainment and FirstGen Content co-produce an all-star cast on swift horses as Daisy Edgar-Jones, Jacob Elordi, poulterDiego Calva and Sasha Street is on his way to stardom. Daniel Minahan will direct, Peter Spears will produce for Ley Line along with Mollye Asher, Tim Headington and Theresa Steele Page, and Michael D’Alto will produce for FirstGen Conent. Blaisekas is adapting the screenplay.
Based on the novel by Shannon Pufahl, the story follows newlyweds Muriel and Lee who return from the Korean War to start a wonderful new life. However, this newfound stability is upended by the arrival of Lee’s charismatic younger brother Julius, a wayward gambler with a secret. A dangerous love triangle quickly forms, and the three vow to start a new life together in California, but their attempts at the American Dream are shattered when Julius disappears and heads to Las Vegas. Muriel begins her secret life, betting on horse races and discovers a love she never thought possible.
Ley Line and FirstGen are financing together with Wavelength. Alvaro Valente and Bryce Kass are executive producers, along with Killer Films’ Christine Vachon and Pamela Koffler. Nate Kamiya and David Darby of Ley Line, Randal Sandler, Claude Amadeo and Chris Triana of FirstGen, and Jennifer Westphal and Joe Plummer of Wavelength are also executive producers. Filming on the project has begun in Los Angeles.
