Jahshii debuts on Rebel Salute | Entertainment

Ballroom artist Jahshii will make his Rebel Salute debut on Friday, January 20 at Plantation Cove in St. Ann’s.

The young showrunner has been creating ripples with hit songs like 25/8, catch up, natural born fighter and vitality. Like many other ballroom acts before him, he will be asked to curate his catalog to fit the expectations of the clean music patrons of Rebel Salute.

“Jahshii is one of the rising stars of the Jamaican music scene today and is an important part of the younger generation. It will be interesting to see what he brings to a show like Rebel Salute,” said veteran reggae artist Tony Rebel, Director of Organic HEART CEO of The Group and founder of Rebel Salute.

Other entertainers on Night 1 include Big Mountain, Rodney Price, Tony Rebel, Yaksta, Kabaka Pyramid, Lady G, Duane Stephenson, Louie Culture, Pluto Shervington, and Ernie Smith and Rytikal. Nation Boss, The Abyssinians, Horace Andy, Glen Washington, Papa Michigan, Dennis Walks, Bling Dawg, HeavyWeight Rockaz, Naki Wailer, Derajah, Yeza, Phalkon and Raffi, Rocktop Crew and Hya P. Akabu will also perform on opening night.

This year’s Rebel Salute, in association with the St Ann Ganja Growers and Producers Association, will be presenting the 6th Annual Herbal Congress over three days, starting Thursday 19 January at Hotbox Jamaica in St Ann’s Bonham Springs. This experience runs through the two-day festival, which includes various exhibitions, product presentations, educational presentations and international panel discussions. On-site, Herb Curb will also host a puff and painting session for the first time in Rebel Salute history.

Queen Ifrica completes the final lineup of “The People’s Show” on Night 2, Saturday, January 21st. Announcing her performance on her social media, Queen Ifrica, who stars as Rebel Salute, told fans what to expect from the two-festival. “Yeah man, great vibes, good energy, clean food, clean music, clean lifestyle, yes,” fits the festival’s 29-year-old mission — no alcohol, no meat, no weapons, Authentic reggae music and edutainment.

Night 2 also included a Dubplate showcase between DJ Naz GurlPower (winner of the 2021 Guinness Great Sounds) and world-renowned DynamIQ from South Sudan, who recently took part in the Welcome to Jamrock Cruise. The showcase is in the spotlight for the second time since 2020 and could be a featured item at future festivals.

More acts on night 2 include some of the biggest names in reggae history such as Luciano, Capleton, Sanchez, Leroy Sibbles, Josey Wales and Terry Linen. Other acts include Dancehall King Moses Davis; Ghanaian Afropop, dancehall and reggae musician Stonebwoy; Timoy Jones; I-Wayne; I-Octane; Errol Dunkley; Johnny Clarke; Imeru Tafari; Kumar Faya; Daviana Tanzi; Abatao; Christopher Ellis; Ras-I, 5-star celestial body ; Echo Minot; Bloodlines of Azar; Young Holt;

In addition, the reggae music at the festival site complements the rich and varied food village, reflecting the festival’s alcohol-free and meat-free philosophy. Patrons will also enjoy a charming arts village with unique, authentic items such as paintings, sculptures, clothing and many other popular crafts.

The Rebel Salute will be held on January 20-21.
