Foreign Minister Jaishankar met with UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Friday during the “Friends of BRICS” gathering.

Jaishankar tweeted, “Great to meet UAE’s FM HH @ABZayed during the BRICS Friends Gathering. Our regular meetings and ongoing dialogue help drive our strategic partnership forward. Always benefit from His insights and views on global politics.”

Earlier today, EAM spoke at the Friends of BRICS Foreign Ministers meeting in Cape Town.

“BRICS is no longer an ‘alternative,’ it is an established feature of the global landscape,” EAM tweeted on Friday.

“The message of reform embodied by the BRICS must permeate the world of multilateralism. Friends of the BRICS strongly support UN Security Council reform,” he wrote.

EAM said that the BRICS countries are not only the embodiment of multi-polarization, but also the embodiment of various ways to deal with international challenges.

Jaishankar tweeted that the BRICS countries were “focused on building a more equitable, inclusive and open international architecture with sustainable development at its core”.

“Creating resilient and reliable supply chains is central to ensuring that no one is left behind. Thanks to all BRICS members and friends for the open and constructive exchange of views,” Jaishankar further wrote.

On the sidelines of the BRICS foreign ministers meeting in Cape Town, South Africa on Thursday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with his Indian counterpart Jaishankar to discuss hotspot issues on the bilateral agenda as well as international and regional issues.

Also, the two ministers commended the dynamism of cooperation between India and Russia in the most important areas of special and privileged strategic partnership.
