James Cameron Might Not Direct ‘Avatar 4’ and ‘Avatar 5’ Entertainment

[ad_1]

James Cameron probably won’t be directing Avatar 4 and 5.

The 67-year-old filmmaker has completed filming on “Avatar: The Way of Water” and “Avatar 3” — which will be released in December 2022 and 2024 respectively — although the series Two other films in the series are still planned, but the director has admitted that he may want to “take the baton” to helm the rest of the series because these films are so “energy draining.”

He told Empire magazine: “The Avatar movie itself is something that consumes everything.

“I have other exciting things in development. I think eventually over time – I don’t know if that’s after three or four – I’ll want to pass the baton to my director. Believe in taking over so I can do something I’m also interested in. Or maybe not. I don’t know.

James — whose first Avatar came out in December 2009 — is very excited about the overall message in the film series, especially for fans to see a planned fourth film.

He said: “I can say everything I need to say on this canvas about family, about sustainability, about climate, about the natural world, topics that are important to me in real life and in film life.

“I’m getting more and more excited as I go. Movie four is a cork. What a sissy. I really hope I can make it. But it depends on market forces.

“Three is in a jar, so it’s going to come out no matter what. I really hope we can make four and five because it ends up being a big story.”

Set more than a decade after the original film, Avatar: Way of Water features a cast that includes Kate Winslet, Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington and Sigourney Weaver.
