October 4 (UPI) – Japan on Tuesday gave a Russian diplomat six days to leave the country, according to its foreign minister.

Minister Lim Ui The office said on Tuesday it had summoned the ambassador Mikhail Galuzin informed him that the unnamed diplomat was being expelled. The diplomat works at the Russian Consulate General in Sapporo, Japan, a major northern city.

Earlier, Russian officials accused the Japanese consulate in the city of Vladivostok of spying, detained him for three hours and then deported him.
