Pakistan’s largest mobile operator has selected Nokia’s latest Subscriber Data Management (SDM) software to enhance HLR/HSS network resiliency and accelerate delivery of new products and services to Jazz customers.
As part of a phased expansion and deployment strategy, the network will be progressively modernized to a fully cloud-based SDM architecture by 2025.
full deployment
The modernization strategy will enable Jazz to deploy a fully geo-redundant active network across four data centers in Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi and Faisalabad to ensure network availability as a disaster recovery solution.
The deployment is an extension of an existing collaboration and will help Jazz achieve its digital transformation-related ambitions by allowing for automated provisioning of devices and services at scale to accelerate digitalisation in Pakistan. Software for Nokia SDM will reduce configuration time for new users, services and features.
The cloud transformation of the SDM network will allow Jazz to achieve zero-touch capacity expansion using network automation. In addition, Nokia NetAct will provide a comprehensive view of the multi-domain, multi-technology network to ensure the best network experience.
a key role
Abdul Rehman Usmani, Vice President Networks at Jazz, said: “As Pakistan’s largest digital mobile operator, Jazz plays a key role in the country’s digitalisation journey. Our expanded collaboration with Nokia will help ensure network resilience and the rapid introduction of new consumers and enterprise services to help us further improve the customer experience. Nokia’s industry-proven solutions will help us prepare for any future technology while enhancing the growing demands of existing networks.”
Imran Durrani, Head of Nokia Jazz Account Team, said: “Nokia SDM’s software will provide Jazz with a comprehensive multi-technology network and enhance its digital services by allowing operators to automatically provision new devices at scale. We look forward to expanding our partnership with Jazz long-term partnership with this critical project as part of its network modernization transformation.” – arab trade news agency
