Jeep unveils SUV electrification plans

[ad_1]

The Jeep brand today announced comprehensive plans for its next-generation all-electric 4xe vehicle as part of a sustainable transformation to become the world’s leading electric SUV brand.

The plan, which premiered on the brand’s YouTube channel www.youtube.com/thejeepchannel, calls for four all-electric SUVs to be launched in North America and Europe by the end of 2025.

As part of an ongoing comprehensive product plan, 50 percent of Jeep brand sales in the U.S. will be fully electric by 2030, while 100 percent of sales in Europe will be fully electric by then. The plan fully supports the net-zero carbon emissions target set by Stellantis in its Dare Forward 2030 long-term strategic plan.

“Driven by the success of our electric 4xe portfolio in North America and Europe, we are designing and developing the most powerful and sustainable Jeep SUV to date, and we are on our way to becoming the world’s leading zero-emission SUV brand,” said Christian Meunier, CEO of the Jeep brand. “This is a forward-looking strategy to help ensure that millions of Jeep fans around the world continue to have a planet to explore, embrace and protect. Electrification is great for our brand, making it even more capable , more exciting, more sustainable and more fun.”

The Jeep brand has revealed the first images of two all-electric SUVs — the all-new Jeep Recon and the all-new Wagoneer, codenamed the Wagoneer S — that will arrive in North America and the rest of the world, while confirming that the all-new all-electric Jeep Avenger will arrive Launching in Europe early next year.

Building on the success of America’s best-selling plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), the Jeep Wrangler 4xe and the recently launched Grand Cherokee 4xe, the brand is developing a comprehensive electrification product line specifically developed to enhance the brand’s legendary capabilities and expand its presence in North America.

“As 4xe technology continues to expand across our product portfolio, we are redefining freedom and adventure in a way that only the Jeep brand can,” said Jim Morrison, head of Jeep Brand North America. “By the end of 2025, our entire lineup will be electrified, including four all-electric vehicles competing at the core of the market.”

The electrification plan will also expand Wagoneer’s product portfolio. The brand will offer the all-new all-electric Wagoneer in the premium mid-size SUV segment, while in the large SUV segment, the Wagoneer model will offer a powertrain with an estimated combined range of 500 miles.

By 2030, the Jeep brand will offer a full line of new battery electric vehicles (BEVs), establishing itself as the SUV industry leader in terms of number of models, segment participation and sales. As a result, 50 percent of brand sales in the U.S. will be fully electric vehicles, the company said.

The all-new Jeep Recon

One of the first all-new electric SUVs to launch in North America is the Jeep Recon.

This all-new vehicle is aimed at those who enjoy exploring extreme adventures in near-quiet surroundings with a rugged all-electric vehicle package.

The Jeep Recon was designed from the ground up to be 100% Jeep 4×4 and 100% zero-emission. Available only as a BEV, this SUV will enhance off-road adventures by:

True off-road capability with Jeep Selec-Terrain traction management system, e-locker axle technology, underbody protection, tow hooks and aggressive off-road tires

True Jeep open air freedom with one-touch power roof, removable doors and glass

The latest generation of the Uconnect system, including detailed travel guides for the most famous off-road routes

“The all-new all-electric Jeep Recon has the ability to traverse the mighty Rubicon Trail, one of the most challenging off-road trails in America, and reach the end of the trail with enough distance to drive back to town and recharge,” Meunier said.

The global SUV will be shown to the public next year and production will begin in North America in 2024. The Jeep Recon will be sold in major markets around the world, including Europe. –arab trade news agency
