Abu Dhabi Airports has granted Jetex the concession to manage and operate the VIP terminal at Al Batin Administrative Airport (OMAD) in the UAE capital. Jetex said the airport has been operating as a business jet facility since 2008, with a focus on fast and efficient turnarounds, no hold patterns or timing restrictions, and short taxi times. OMAD is centrally located with easy access to Abu Dhabi’s financial, tourist and entertainment destinations.
Abu Dhabi Airports managing director and chief executive Jamal Al Dhaheri said he hoped the move would revive a “tailor-made” business aviation airport. “As a specialist FBO operator well versed in the needs and requirements of this particular market segment, we look forward to working with Jetex and successfully delivering great value to all of our passengers,” he said.
Ain It is understood that the concession involves FBO management of the airport and that the separate Royal Terminal will continue to be subject to existing regulation.
Adel Mardini, founder and chief executive of Jetex, said the opportunity to work in facilities dedicated to business aviation will complement Jetex’s offerings in the UAE, which also operate in Dubai’s Al Maktoum International Airport (OMDW) VIP terminal and Dubai International Airport.
