Maureen, sick., June 13, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Deere & Company (NYSE: of) and Al Roker Entertainment today announced a new documentary focusing on Black Farming in the United States and the devastating effects of heir estates – property is passed down through inheritance to family members, often without a will or proper estate planning. without a clear title, Black Farmers are not eligible for government assistance, equipment financing or farming programs designed to optimize their land. In 2020, John Deere partnered with the National Black Growers Council and the Thurgood Marshall College Fund to create the LEAP Coalition to provide farmers and landowners with resources to address estate issues with heirs.

A documentary co-produced with Emmy-nominated director Eternal Polk, Making Progress: Fighting for the Black Earth, addressing how landowners can reclaim their agricultural rights and their access to generational wealth.The film will premiere at the American Black Film Festival Miami exist June 15, 2023and has appeared in screenings across the country this summer.

The film also showcases subject matter experts and practitioners actively working to address these issues.
