Johnny Depp is reportedly planning to expand his UK business ventures after moving into a 19th-century mansion in Somerset.
The 59-year-old Pirates of the Caribbean star is reportedly interested in buying the Grade II listed pub owned by Paul’s Hollywood fiancé – for £1million, according to The Sun.
The outlet reported that since moving from Los Angeles, Depp has been very interested in the idea of buying the Checkers Inn.
The pub in the village of Smarden in Kent is reportedly run by Melissa Spalding, 38, who has been engaged to The Great British Bake Off judge, 57, since 2019.
Sources say Depp is a ‘huge fan’ of the hotel [the] From his $16.2 million Downton Abbey-style estate.
The Rum Diary star is said to have had some support from his close friend, pub regular and illustrator Ralph Steadman.
“Depp loves the bar and has been doing it for years,” a source said. “Johnny loves history and has talked before about wanting to buy a pub. It’s right in the heart of the English countryside.”
Professionally, Depp will next appear in the upcoming film Jeanne Dubari.
In the French biopic, Depp will play King Louis XV alongside actress and director Maïwenn, 46, who was recently accused of “spitting in the face of journalists”.
