Amblin Entertainment — the production company founded by Steven Spielberg and partially owned by NBCUniversal — recently submit application Registered trademark for the “Jurassic World Explorer” brand.
New Jurassic World content may be coming soon
The application was filed on March 28, and according to the USPTO, it has been accepted but has not yet appointed an examiner. The abstract describes its purpose:
The JURASSIC WORLD EXPLORERS™ trademark registration is intended to cover the category of entertainment services of a film, television series, short-form entertainment content, video and podcast nature in the fields of news, sports, comedy, drama, music and variety content; films, television series, short-form entertainment content, video, Entertainment services in the nature of production and distribution of podcasts and games with news, entertainment, sports, comedy, drama, music and variety content; provision of websites, images and non-downloadable content in the field of news, sports and entertainment over the Internet, mobile and wireless networks video; providing interactive online computer games; amusement park attractions and theme park services; live stage performance, that is, the presentation of live performances; providing water park services; Events, competitions, shows, and exhibitions in the entertainment field; on-demand and rental services for movies, TV series, short entertainment content, videos, podcasts, and games in the content fields of news, sports, comedy, drama, music, and variety; online non-downloadable electronic Publications, which are textual and graphic works featuring news, sports and entertainment.
The application for the trademark suggests that some kind of media project, possibly a series aimed at a younger audience, might begin production under that name. However, this doesn’t guarantee anything, as there is no official announcement and the trademark itself has multiple uses. This just reassures Amblin that they’ve earned the rights to any Jurassic World Explorer adventures if they so choose. Use in theme parks and social media is equally likely.
Before that, the only notable time Jurassic World Explorers appeared was as a brand for the Fisher-Price line of toys, aimed at especially young children.
Adding a trademark would certainly mean more usage and awareness for the brand, at least soon.
Amblin’s Legacy
Amblin has been known for several high-profile film projects over the decades, including “ET,” “Back to the Future,” “Jurassic Park,” “Jurassic World,” and “Men in Black” , “World at War,” “Saving Private Ryan,” “Tornado,” and “Ready Player One,” among others.
