Kapil Sharma Says Koreans Wept After Watching Zwigato: ‘They Don’t Even Know I’m Known For Comedy’

Actor and comedian Kapil Sharma’s upcoming film Zvigato The grand teaser was released at an event in Mumbai on Wednesday. During a press conference, the actor and film director Nandita Das detailed their film, sharing how the comedy was shown in South Korea when it premiered at the 27th Busan International Film Festival last October. response.

Zwigato had its world premiere at the 47th Toronto International Film Festival in September, followed by its Asian premiere at the 27th Busan International Film Festival last October. Kapil shared in a media interaction that Zvigato managed to make Koreans cry. Sharing that Zwigato resonated with viewers in South Korea, Kapil shared, “After watching the movie, people were there crying and they didn’t even know I was known for comedy. So, I don’t think there will be any disappointment.”

The film, starring Shahana Goswami, follows a food delivery man who is a comedian who stands apart from his usual brand of entertainment. Kapil is known for his skit comedy shows, which garnered high ratings on television. In Zwigato, Kapil’s character is fired by his regular customers and forced to work for a food delivery service to make ends meet. Shahana plays the protagonist’s wife who also wants to work and help her family.

At the press conference, Kapil also talked about the luck of trying a new genre, and said: “I do comedy for 2 hours a day on the show, but I don’t do it 24 hours. There are several aspects of my personality that I want to show. I don’t think the fans will be disappointed because they’re also curious to see what new things I’ve brought to the table.”

Asked if he faced any challenges in filming a film that isn’t inherently a comedy, Kapil shared, “I live this life, so playing this role didn’t seem like a big challenge.” Zwigato Scheduled to open in theaters March 17.
