Kathie Lee Gifford misses the “great” late Regis Philbin.
The previous “Alive! The Regis and Kathy Lee star took to social media to pay tribute to her colleague, who was supposed to turn 91, calling it a “particularly difficult day” following his death in 2020 at the age of 88.
The 69-year-old TV personality wrote on Instagram on Thursday (25/08/22): “I miss Regis every day. But this is a particularly tough day as we remember this amazing 91-year-old people.
Kathie Lee offered her “love” to his wife Joy and the rest of his loved ones, tagging the former “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” game show host.
She continued: “Love to Joey and their family as they celebrate an extraordinary man and life.”
Last April, the “The Way” star recalled how “happy” she was that Regis was with her late husband, NFL legend Frank Gifford, while they looked down on her from heaven.
Kathie Lee said: “I thought of him yesterday, and it was great that God let me have lunch with him two weeks before his death. He was upstairs with Frank, with my parents and others I lost. Upstairs. They’re all happy for me.”
She also called Frank – the father of her two children, daughter Cassidy, 29, and son Cody, 32 – the “most humble” person she’s ever met.
Kathy Lee said: “He’s never been, and that’s what I like most about him. He’s the most humble person I’ve ever known. He is, because you know why? He’s grateful. He grew up in poverty. Big in the dusty places of Oklahoma and California and Texas. His father was an oil worker. They sometimes eat dog food and are thankful for it, so when I look around the world today young people I don’t see that, there are some, but this right attitude – it just makes me sick.”
