ASTANA – Peaceful coexistence is the only option in the era of globalization and integration of religions and cultures, Kazakhstan’s Minister of Information and Social Development Darkhan Kidirari said at the World Government Forum: Incubator of tolerance, which is the annual The side event of the investment conference was held in Abu Dhabi from May 8 to 10, according to the ministry’s press service on May 10.
The forum was launched to consider the role of tolerance and coexistence in achieving sustainable economic growth and to find solutions to discrimination and intolerance.
According to Kydyrali, the values of tolerance, human brotherhood and peace are central to meeting the challenges the world faces in the 21st century.
“I think we’re reassured about the importance of these values during the COVID-19 pandemic, when people familiar and unfamiliar can overcome difficulties only through mutual understanding and alignment of purpose,” he said.
The minister emphasized that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been able to create an effective economic model based on tolerance and coexistence, which is in line with Kazakhstan’s position to strengthen inter-ethnic and inter-religious harmony.
“Kazakh President Kasim-Jomart Tokayev keeps his eyes on current issues on the world agenda and the peace and stability of the country. Kazakhstan has become a dialogue platform for world and traditional religious leaders. The Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, which unites religious figures, was held for the seventh time in Astana last September,” Kydyrali said.
He also emphasized the important role of the media in promoting tolerance.
“The media should exclude hate speech. Instead, it should call for unity and peace, bringing people together in spirit,” he added.
The forum was held under the patronage and presence of Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, and was attended by key officials from around the world.
