Kelsey Grammer Discusses Nicholas Lyndhurst’s Fraser Role

Kelsey Grammar revealed that he called Nicholas Lyndhurst A “sandbag” because he’s very good at making all the laughs.

“He’s a very, very talented guy.”

Lyndhurst – best known for playing Rodney Trotter on the classic British sitcom “Only Fools and Horses” – will join the revival of the hit American comedy, his first role since cameo across from him Late Son, CBBC star Archie Lyndhurst 2019.

“We’re going to start rehearsing in a couple of weeks,” Grammer said.

“He’s playing an old friend. When we put the show together, it occurred to me that we’d never actually seen Frasier have a good friend relationship with him.”

Frasier’s restart has been in the works since 2019, but was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic. It was announced by Paramount in February 2021.

Frasier aired on NBC from 1993-2004. It’s a spin-off of the comedy series Cheers, in which Grammer plays psychiatrist Dr. Frasier Crane.

“I think they recognize from Cheers’ character that he can evolve, they haven’t really tapped him yet,” Grammer said.

“So once Frasier became the center of his own show, he became more complex and more interesting, he became the center of the show, and the other characters actually became Frasier’s satellite characters on Cheers.

“Fraser wasn’t the main character or focus of Cheers, but he became the center of the universe of satellites that revolved around what was going on in his life, but the best thing I could do was get out of the way and stop trying to make everybody else laugh it out.

Lyndhurst rose to fame playing teenage Adam on the family sitcom Butterfly alongside Wendy Craig, Jeffrey Palmer and Andrew Hall.

He will always be remembered for his role as Rodney Trotter, brother of wheel dealer Del Boy Trotter, played by Sir David Jason in Only Fools And Horses.

Nicholas is also known for his roles as time-traveling bigamist Gary Sparrow on the sitcom Goodnight Honey and retired police officer Dan Griffin on New Tricks.

Lyndhurst and wife Lucy Smith leave ‘Destroyed’ by death of son CBBC star Archie Lyndhurst 19 years old in 2020.

It was revealed that he died of acute lymphoblastic lymphoma/leukemia – a rare, undiagnosed form of brain cancer.
