Kelsey Grammer is in the “final stages” of developing the “Frasier” reboot.
The 67-year-old actor, who played Frasier Crane on the hit sitcom from 1993 to 2004, is currently working on the long-awaited reboot.
Kelsey explained in announcing his upcoming appearance on ‘The Conversation’: “There’s been some [shooting in] October, maybe a little later. I have no idea. There are other things going on. We’ve developed a few other projects and it looks like they’ll be shooting first.
“But we’re in the final stages of the final script for the first episode of ‘Frasier’, the reboot. It looks good. I’ve done it a few times and I’m crying, so you know, I’m happy.”
Kelsey also joked about his own importance to the project.
The actor, who played Frazier in Cheers, quipped, before joining the hit spinoff: “The key factor in the Frazier reboot is actually Frazier. It’s always been called [Frasier], so it’s me, the key is me. “
Kelsey previously revealed that he is keen to reunite the old cast, describing the reboot as a “third act.”
Kelsey, who starred alongside the likes of David Hyde Pierce and Jane Leeves in the show’s original version – said in an interview last year: “We think we Will bring most of the cast back, and I certainly hope we will, and I’m fairly confident they will.
“We’ve got a story to tell – honestly, with or without them – but I want them back because that’s what I’ve always dreamed of. I think we should explore their lives in their third act , so that’s my hope.”
