New York-based consultancy Cookbook Media has been appointed to represent Great Wolf Entertainment (GWE) – the content arm of Great Wolf Resorts, owner of Chicago’s water parks and family resorts.

Founded in 2021, GWE aims to create an entertainment franchise utilizing the resort’s woodland creature mascots, which are popular with guests. These characters include Wiley Wolf, Violet Wolf, Oliver Raccoon, Sammy Squirrel and Brinley Bear.

Under the new agreement, Cookbook will exclusively distribute GWE’s 2D animated content globally, starting with its recently completed debut Great Wolves: Call of Adventure (pictured). This photo is aimed at kids and families and sees gangs of animals harnessing mystical powers to help those in need.

Six-point seat belts in Los Angeles (hair love) and Chris Bailey (gold may) director and Julia Pistor (Jimmy Neutron: The Gifted Boy) and Kent Redeck (Dr. McStuffans) on board as EP.

At the MIPJunior Marketplace next month, Cookbook will present the film along with a series of short films (10 x 5 minutes) that follow individual characters on smaller independent adventures. It’s looking for partners, but also hopes to pave the way for greater expansion opportunities for the franchise.

“We’re also helping them develop strategies for larger potential partnerships that can accompany Great Wolf Resorts into other touchpoints with kids and families,” said Cookbook co-founder Claudia Scott-Hansen. Those touchpoints could extend to games, audio, books and immersive experiences, she added.

Great Wolf is also currently working on a 22-minute animated series exploring even more adventures. “Four of them have been completed and many more are in the works,” Scott-Hanson said, noting that the goal is to create a full series for streaming partners.

Cookbook Media was established in March 2020 and has since expanded its focus to represent studio, creator of intellectual property even brands (including dance theaters in New York Alvin Ailey) trying to break into the field of children’s entertainment.

Great Wolf operates 19 resorts in North America and is preparing to open its next resort in Maryland next year.
