King Charles’ coronation will last over an hour of entertainment

[ad_1]

According to reports, the coronation of King Charles will last more than an hour.

The service at Westminster Abbey – rumored to be set for June 3 next year – will also be less ceremonial than the 1953 coronation of his late mother Queen Elizabeth, the Mail on Sunday reported. , and more diverse.

According to reports, Charles’ coronation plan is contained in a blueprint called “Operation Golden Globe”, which will reduce his coronation to about a third of the three hours it takes to crown the queen.

The Mail on Sunday quoted a source as saying: “The king has called off many coronations, acknowledging that the world has changed over the past 70 years.”

The insider added how it would be more religiously and culturally diverse and would not have Charles change clothes during the event as the Queen did: “It is unlikely that King Charles will do this and the language will be adjusted to make it easier for people to understand. modern audience.”

The publication also reported that the guest list for the event would be cut from 8,000 to 2,000, with “hundreds of nobles and councillors” to miss out.

It added that MPs and peers “may be told there is no guarantee they have a place”.

Ceremonies such as gifting gold ingots to the monarch will also be scrapped, with Prince William likely to play a major role in helping plan the ceremony.

The Mail on Sunday said they were told by insiders that the Duke of Norfolk, who planned the coronation, was tasked with preparing a simpler, shorter and more varied ceremony, but said he declined to comment on his plans.

Bloomberg reported last week that Her Majesty’s ceremony will take place nearly 70 years after his mother Queen Elizabeth was crowned on June 2, 1953, when she was 25.

The outlet added that discussions were ongoing on which days could be designated as public holidays to mark the occasion.

The queen died at her Balmoral home on September 8 at the age of 96, crowned 16 months after she became monarch, although official ceremonies usually take place within a year of the royal ascension.

It is thought that Friday, June 2, could become a bank holiday to mark the coronation of 73-year-old Charles.

The Queen’s iconic coronation cost £1.57 million, or £46 million today.

More than 8,000 guests representing 129 countries headed to Westminster Abbey for the Queen’s coronation, where VIPs were forced to sit on makeshift pews.

A royal source previously told The Telegraph about Charles’ coronation plans: “It will be shorter, faster, smaller, cheaper and more representative of different community groups and beliefs.”
