The holidays are here! King Charles and Queen Camilla recently released their official Christmas card. This is their first official business card as heads of state.
The card features a photo of the king and queen consort during the annual Braemar Heights Gathering at the Princess Royal and Duke of Fife Memorial Park.
“We’re so excited to share this year’s King and Queen Christmas card,” the family shared on Twitter.
Long-time royal photographer Samir Hussein was credited for taking the image, which was “taken at the Braemar Games in September 2022”.
Staying true to tradition, the candid snapshot is embossed in red ink and accompanied by a short and sweet message from the couple.
The reverse page read: “Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Merry New Year.”
The Braemar Games are over 1,000 years old and traditionally feature thousands of people watching sporting events, bagpipe competitions and dancing, officiated by Her Majesty the Queen. Queen Elizabeth II did not attend the 2022 ceremony due to ill health. She died on September 8 at the age of 96.
The card was released amid growing tensions between the king and his young son Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle. The couple, who emigrated to the United States, recently released their story two years ago in a Netflix documentary titled “Harry and Meghan,” further exacerbating their rift with the royal family.
