ROANOK, Va. (WDBJ) — For local music fans, live performances in the summer are great, but it’s proving to be a challenge for them. first friday Roanoke organizer.
“It’s been a fun season. We have good crowds, but we have six national events in the adjoining Elmwood Park. When you have a national show with our local band, It’s very difficult,” said David Camper of First Fridays Roanoke.
Now in its 34th season, First Friday’s is putting its best spin on local talent.
On stage this week will be kings Known as the band that plays everything.
“I guess the Kings have been around for about 50 years. They’re just a great, fun group with a little brass and a little energy and they’re super fun and people love to come out and tap their toes and it’s cool to have a drink with them things,” Camper said.
All shows support local charities.
Fans will be happy because they are helping others while having a good time.
“We’re having fun. It’s a walk around event. I mean, you walk around and you see your friends. You listen to music. You have a nice cold drink. For me, it’s Much more fun than sitting down to a concert,” Camper said.
The first Friday will end the season with the band, Vaux October 7th.
