Knight goes viral after car roars

[ad_1]

All Jace Knights (Katrina Act) wants to do is bring some pain chocolate to her co-workers, and what does her annoyance get? A funky superhero moniker and 15 minutes of fame, of course, but also an undercover cartel investigation, a reluctant 11, and zero croissants.

Her day began with a bang when a car crashed into a wall outside the southeast entrance to the Navy Yard. She pulled a mother and child to safety but was unable to save the male passenger. Cell phone video of her rescue went viral and the media dubbed her Wonder Woman, but she was more interested in talking to the people she saved.

Reyna Vargas (Adriana Ducassi) explains from her hospital bed that she is undocumented, threatened with deportation and sending her American-born son Adam (Elias Janssen) into foster care. She also said the man killed in the car was her brother Daniel.

Before Knight could get any more answers, a nurse pushed Reyna away for an MRI. Reyna makes Nate promise to take care of Adam in her absence.

But Reyna’s absence takes longer than anyone expected; she disappears from the hospital, leaving the wounded nurse behind. Oh, the one who died wasn’t her brother. He was a DEA agent named Daniel Tanner.

Adam reluctantly agrees to stay with Knight while his mother goes missing. The first stop is Casey (Diona Reasonover), where she takes a selfie with Wonder Woman before revealing that Daniel was shot with her own gun. That’s when Adam yelled that his mom didn’t do it because Daniel was his mom’s friend.

DEA Agent Raymond Frank (Scott Lawrence, too famous not to be more involved in the mess) sheds more light on the issue, admitting his agency slowed down Rayna’s Visa applications to force her to go undercover for them.

She was sent to work at Mateo’s Taqueria, which the DEA believed was a front for the Serrano Cartel. Mateo Serrano is the savvy entrepreneur, while his brother Isaac is the enforcer. Daniel, who is Reina’s manager, gives her a recording device to plant in Mateo’s office in the hope that they will shut down the cartel once and for all.

Alas, Kasie was unable to extract any useful footage from the recording equipment, which burned down in Reyna’s car, though she was able to amuse Adam with an exploding watermelon as Knight left to investigate. However, Knight’s return made Adam frown.

He had reason to frown. Surveillance footage from the hospital showed nurses taking Reina to a parking lot where armed men forced her into a van. The nurse identified Isaac Serrano as the man who threatened her family and forced her to hand over Reyna.

Kasie was able to use a street camera to track down the van’s damaged taillight and announce it was in the taqueria, which was honestly just Mateo’s lazy logistics.

frank wants move, but NCIS agents urged a slower response. Parker (gary cole) also benched Knight because she was so famous that she was hunted down by reporters. Frustrated by being stuck in her child’s responsibilities, Parker reminds her that Adam doesn’t have to love her, but he does have to depend on her.

So she takes Adam to a restaurant for French fries and reminds him that she promised his mom would take care of him. He started opening up, sharing one of the mixes he made on his phone using sounds from the world around him. In fact, he also said that Uncle Daniel used to bring him mixes.

Meanwhile, Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) is undercover at a Mexican fast food restaurant, mixing chips and salsa and flirting with the waitress. It seemed like I was going undercover – until he got confirmation that Mateo was currently at the restaurant.

Torres pulls the fire alarm to evacuate the scene, but the trailing old woman surprises Mateo with a drawn gun. (Who is this woman? Is she Mama Serrano? A random cartel member? A customer mad because her order was delayed? The episode never solves the mystery.)

Thankfully, the rest of the team rushed in ready to take down the opponent, and Frank killed Mateo when he could have shot Parker from behind. Adam is happy to be reunited with his mother, though everyone else is upset that they don’t have recording equipment to actually get the goods on Theranos.

But savvy viewers have figured out how to fix the problem: Adam sees the recording device, thinks it’s more of Daniel’s voice, and copies it to his phone for mixing. Original documents show that Mateo met someone in Linkin Park three days earlier with a bribe.

Frank, of course, took the $50,000, killed Daniel, and shot Mateo to prevent the man from betraying him. He struck a deal and flipped on the remaining Serranos.

This clears the way for Reyna to be naturalized, and with the Vargas family gone, Adam makes Torres promise to look after Knight. Torres assured him the team would take care of each other, and when Adam hugged Knight goodbye, he airdropped a document to her.

Even though reporters have stopped calling, Jesse still has Adam’s Wonder Woman mix of press coverage of her heroics to remind her of her brief time in the spotlight.

  • Look, I’m not saying Mateo should be killed for that too-cute font in his taqueria logo, but I’m saying that if he had focused less on cartels and more on graphic design, he could have made money the legal way.

  • It’s fitting to see Katrina Law’s character earn a DC Comics moniker; the actress has previously played Nyssa al Ghul of The CW arrowthe other DC connector.

  • How much do you like the truth that Delilah asked Tim to reveal (Sean Murray) washed six months after she learned he was hiding The triple homicide in their apartment from her ? Seems like an appropriate punishment.

  • An update on Jess and Jimmy (Brian Dietzen): He knows her whereabouts early in the morning, and she worries about what his daughter Victoria really thinks of her. Stay tuned for further developments in the season finale on May 22.
