Abu Dhabi, 26 November: Avid Konkani lovers in the UAE witnessed a spectacular event as the internationally acclaimed Konkani play ‘Sikeram Driver’ was staged at the new school hall at St Joseph’s Church in Abu Dhabi on 19 November. The event drew admiration and awe from a large audience.
The event began with a brief introduction by dynamic and long-standing KCO member Vivek Serrao, who welcomed the spiritual director of the Konkani community and Fr Maxim Cardoza, parish priest of St Paul’s Catholic Church Mussafah, with prayers and blessings before the opening of the play. Fr Maxim further expressed his It was a pleasure to be part of such an event that portrays the importance of the Konkani community. Afterwards, Vivek Serrao welcomed Jason Correa, the current president of KCO, to the stage, and extended a warm and sincere welcome to all the guests. He walked the audience through the numerous KCO events taking place during the pandemic and explained the importance of how such events can bring the community closer together spiritually.

In terms of entertainers, Robert Mendonka and Cliven Mendonka, as high-spirited sons, amazed the audience with their inner acting skills, while well-known actors Vinci Lobo and Cynthia Mendonka provided scripts and plays.
