Kyle RittenhouseThe Illinois juvenile who killed two people and injured the other last summer appeared in court to testify in his defense during the trial. While explaining the events that led to the fatal shooting, Kyle broke down and caused the judge to adjourn the trial.
“I looked back. Mr. Rosenbaum was running from my right. I was forced to…in front of me…someone was there,” Rittenhouse said, tearing down his face.
Before the judge decided to take a break, his lawyer told him to take a deep breath.
As we reported earlier, Kyle faces five felony charges, including felony homicide and possession of dangerous weapons related to the killing of 26-year-old Anthony Huber and 36-year-old Joseph Rosenbaum. This incident occurred during a protest in Kenosha, when the police shot and killed Jacob Black.
When Kyle described what happened that night, he insisted that he was defending himself. He claimed that he heard threats from people while helping people injured during the protest.
Kyle also testified that Joseph Rosenbaum threatened to kill him before firing. Kyle claimed that Rosenbaum was upset about something and screamed “I’m going to dig out your fucking heart” while walking on the streets of Kenosha.
Kyle Rittenhouse’s defense later filed a motion for invalidation because he insisted that he was not guilty in the case.
“I did nothing wrong. I defended myself,” he testified.
