Larry Poland, Founder and CEO of Mastermedia International, Dies at 83

Mastermedia International founder Larry Poland died May 3 in Illinois of a stroke. He is 83 years old.

Poland founded Mastermedia as “the trusted voice of faith for mainstream media leaders”. The Mastermedia teams in Hollywood and New York build relationships with industry leaders through dialogue, consultation and support.

The organization works with executives from major networks and film studios to provide research and consulting on entering the American Christian market.

Poland grew up in Ohio and dedicated his life to Christian service through higher education, international volunteerism, and consulting with entertainment industry leaders. A graduate of Wheaton College with a BA in Sociology, he was Director of Agape Movement, the international volunteer service organization of the Campus Crusade for Christ, Intl.

Poland first entered the entertainment industry in the late 70s when he hosted a Question-Oriented TV Talk Show United in Canada. He also went on to host the radio feature “The Mediator,” which ran for 18 years on various radio stations.

Poland founded Mastermedia in 1985 and served as President and CEO for 30 years. The Polish-imposed Mastermedia’s core values ​​emphasize “making a positive and redemptive impact in the entertainment industry by touching the lives of media gatekeepers and mobilizing global prayer efforts for them.”

He received the Covenant Award for Christian influence on secular media. Poland is also the founder of the National Media Prayer Breakfast.

Poland is survived by his wife; Donna Lynn and their six children and 14 grandchildren.
