Henderson, Nevada – The Las Vegas Academy Singers will join the Las Vegas Academy Singers to play our national anthem before Sunday’s Las Vegas Raiders’ 2022 home preseason opener kicks off at Allegiant Stadium. No other name or person better defines, represents or is synonymous with the city of Las Vegas and the entertainment capital of the world than Mr. Las Vegas himself – Wayne Newton.
In Las Vegas alone, Wayne performed live in front of more than 40 million people, setting a record for more than 25,000 performances. Known for good reason as “Mr. Las Vegas,” he’s one of only two people to receive the city’s Medal of Honor. Academy Singers is the premier chamber choir of the 12-time Grammy Award-winning Las Vegas Academy of the Arts. The ensemble consists of 43 of the most talented singers on campus. As the face of LVA, the Academy Singer has performed nationally and internationally, including concerts with Hugh Jackman, Barry Manilow, Alien, Star Wars, Boston Brass Band, Andre Rieu, Broadway Memphis star, producer Kenny Ortega and in the nationally televised 2022 NFL Draft. They are a talented, motivated and dedicated group of students with a passion for singing. Although they come from different backgrounds, their goal is the same – to share their love of music.
In 2021, the top names in entertainment also sang the national anthem at Allegiant Stadium – music icon Mary Osmond, “Queen of Soul” Gladys Knight, Broadway star Brian Flores ) grandfather, 2021 Raiders legend/Pro Football Hall of Famer Tom Flores received his Hall of Fame ring, Journey founder/guitarist Neal Schon, Multi-Grammy Award-winning artist Yolanda Adams, multi-platinum certified R&B singer, writer and dancer Tinashe, retired U.S. Navy Sergeant 1st Gen. Wilson honored the service, Singer/actress Vanessa Hudgens and singer, record producer and priest Montel Jordan and singer/songwriter Tori Kelly.
