toss: United Arab Emirates select batting vs west indies
The UAE won the toss and opted to strike first in Sharjah’s third ODI to avoid a 3-0 sweep.
At the 2018 Under-19 World Cup, Athanadze was ahead of Shubmangill as the leading runner. But early in his domestic career he was dropped by the Windward Isles. The snub pushed him to work harder, becoming one of the mainstays of Windward Islands batting and captain of the team. In the Super50 Cup, the West Indies’ 50-plus domestic championship, Athanadze was the Windward Islands’ top scorer with 292 runs in six innings, a 48.66 average and a batting average of 96.05, the highest in the total. Ranked sixth in the results.
All-rounders Dominic Drakes and Odean Smith gave way to Kevin Sinclair and Keemo Paul. Sinclair will be West Indies’ fourth spin bowling option, alongside Kevem Hodge, Yannic Cariah and backup captain Chase.
However, Legspinner Karthik Meiyappan returned to the XI after losing 55 runs in 4.2 runs in the series opener, while vice-captain Vriitya Aravind snatched the goalkeeper’s glove from Aryansh.
