Laverne Cox mocks being ‘mistaken for’ Beyonce | Entertainment

[ad_1]

LaVine Cox was “misunderstood” for Beyonce at the U.S. Open on Monday night (8/29/22) with a smile.

The 50-year-old actress cheered on her showbiz friend Serena Williams in Flushing Meadows, with LaVine noting that she was widely mistaken on social media for being “in love” Crazy” anchor.

Laverne – who was seen in the crowd wearing an all-black outfit and matching black face mask – wrote on Instagram: “Not me being mistaken for @Beyonce at #USOpen tonight and then trending on Twitter because internet Sniff at the wrong identities. These tweets are super funny. Enjoy!

“Go to @serenawilliams #GOAT #SerenaWilliams #Beyonce (sic)”

Laverne – best known for playing Sophia Burset on “Orange Is the New Black” – also retweeted some of the messages on social media.

One read: “Did Beyoncé play the US Open? This Bey/Laverne Cox confusion confuses me [tears emoji] (sic)”

Another simply said: “#Beyonce at #USOpen (sic)”

Meanwhile, Laverne and Beyonce have both been vocal in their support of Serena, 40, throughout her career.

The actress previously tweeted: “Who is the greatest man of all time? @serenawilliams Who is that. Well, I’m a little excited about the game. #FrenchOpen. She’s a #fighter (sic) in this way)”

The Grand Slam star will actually retire after the U.S. Open.

Serena – who has four-year-old Alexis and her husband Alexis Ohanian – made the announcement in a social media post in August.

She said at the time: “There comes a day in life when you have to decide to go in a different direction. When you love something so much, it’s always a tough time. Oh my gosh, I love tennis. But now, the countdown is over. Started. I had to focus on being a mom, my spiritual goals, and finally discovering a different, but just exciting Serena. I’m going to enjoy the next few weeks [heart emojis] (sic)”
