Chambers Dubai announces leadership changes as President and CEO Hamad Buamim moves on after 16 years of service excellence.
A report by the Wam news agency said he would continue to support the Dubai Chamber of Commerce for the next three months.
Hassan Al Hashemi, Vice President of International Relations at Chambers Dubai, has been appointed as Acting President and Chief Executive Officer.
In announcing the move, Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair, Chairman of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, praised Buamim for being instrumental in the transformational growth and evolution of the entity and positioning Dubai as a strategic hub for global trade and commerce.
Hamad Buamim said: “The Dubai Chamber today serves more than 320,000 members across a wide range of economic sectors. This would not have been possible without the unwavering support of our leadership and the guidance of the Dubai Chamber Board. Interests including consulting and non-executive positions, I thank the leadership and the Dubai Chamber team for their dedication and commitment to achieving extraordinary growth and expanding our geographic reach.”
Buamim’s many achievements include quadrupling the membership of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce from 80,000 to over 320,000, making the Dubai Chamber one of the top 10 chambers in the world and the largest membership-based organization in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) area.
He established 12 international offices and strengthened the Dubai Chamber’s focus on emerging markets, including Latin America and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
Buamim also played a decisive role in forging partnerships with African countries and positioning Dubai as a global gateway to Africa. He also established the Dubai Association Centre within the Chamber of Commerce and attracted more than 80 international associations.
He also established the Dubai Centre for Responsible Business, the first organisation in Dubai to focus on corporate social responsibility initiatives.
