The world has lost a musical legend. tina turner, the queen of rock and roll, has died, ET has confirmed. She is 83 years old.
In a statement to ET, a representative for the singer said Turner passed away peacefully on Wednesday after a long illness at her home in Küsnacht, near Zurich, Switzerland. Turner’s verified Instagram account also posted a statement confirming the tragic news.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tina Turner. With her music and unbridled zest for life, she captivated millions of fans around the world and inspired rising stars,” stated in the statement. “Today we bid farewell to a dear friend who bequeathed us some of her greatest work – her music. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to her family. We will miss you dearly, Tina .”

Tina has released nine full-length studio albums and has won eight Grammy Awards, three Grammy Hall of Fame Awards and a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. She headlined the Super Bowl halftime show, was honored by the Kennedy Center for her contributions to culture, and was twice inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame — first with Ike in 1991 and the second It’s in 2021, a few weeks before her 82nd birthday.

After eight years out of the public eye, she embarked on her last tour in 2008. The 50th Anniversary Tour began in October 2008 and ran until May 2009 with 84 sold out dates in North America and Europe.
