Leslie Jordan died of “sudden cardiac dysfunction”.
The “Call Me Kate” actor died on Oct. 24 at the age of 67 after his car crashed into a building in Hollywood, California, after an inquest into his death determined he was ill after driving poured.
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office found Leslie’s death to be of natural causes and listed atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease as a secondary factor.
They found no evidence of drugs or alcohol in Leslie’s system because he had been sober for more than 20 years before his death.
A month after Leslie’s death, a public memorial service was held at the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Auditorium in Chattanooga, Tennessee, at the request of Leslie’s family, featuring music, singing, comedy and audience participation Activity.
Tickets to the memorial are $20 each, with proceeds donated to one of the late star’s favorite causes, CEMPA Community Care.
Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly was among those honoring the “American Horror Story” actor at the ceremony.
He said: “If Leslie were with us today, I’d like to thank him for his service to our culture throughout his acting career, and his wicked sense of humor for getting us through the dark days of the pandemic. And always invites us into his heart and his world.
“Leslie opened up to all of us and never stopped sharing the love and light he carried in his heart.”
Details of the memorial service were posted on Leslie’s Instagram account, along with recent and childhood photos.
The post was captioned: “We will never say goodbye. We will keep you alive in our memory and your story. Funeral and Memorial, 11/20/22 – Chattanooga, TN.”
Justin Long also commented on the post, offering comfort to Leslie fans.
He wrote: “If there is a way to access Instagram later, I think Leslie is looking at these messages and being ‘amused’ by them. I remember referring to people who follow him here as “followers” at one point, and he corrected me, “I prefer to call them friends,” he said.
“When I hung out with him in Chattanooga, I witnessed him treat fans who approached him with such kindness and good humor – like a friend. His joy and joy of life will always be Be with me – His one-of-a-kind voice will always be with me when I say the words “good” and “s***” in sequence. (sic)”
