[ad_1]

The nominations for the 2023 Dorian Television Awards, presented by GALECA: The LGBTQ Entertainment Critics Association, have been announced, and that’s great news for HBO.

The premium cable/streaming giant’s “The Last of Us,” “Someone Somewhere” and “White Lotus” were the top three nominees, followed by ABC’s “Abbott Primary.”

The Last of Us received eight nominations, including Best Television Series, Best LGBTQ Program and Best Television Performance for Pedro Pascal and co-star Bella Ramsey. The show also garnered double nominations in the Best Television Performance category for Murray Bartlett and Nick Offerman, among other nominations.

Meanwhile, “Someone, Somewhere” has six nominations, including Best Television Performance for star Bridget Everett.

With five nominations, “White Lotus” topped the Best Supporting Actor in a Television Performance category with nominations for Jennifer Coolidge, Megan Fahy and Aubrey Plaza.

HBO (along with HBO Max) has a total of 32 nominations, followed by Netflix (13) and Amazon (10).

But don’t count “Abbott Primary” out. The critic and audience favorite received four nominations, five when you include creator and star Quinta Brunson’s nomination for the Wilde Award for Witty Award, given to performers, writers or Commentators, their observations are both challenging and interesting. Brunson was also nominated for Best Television Performance.

The Dorian Awards honor film and television from an advocacy perspective, recognizing mainstream and LGBTQIA+ titles, with a special focus on shows that have a positive representation of queer culture. GALECA also advocates for better pay and opportunities for members, especially those who represent the most underrepresented and vulnerable groups.
