Abu Dhabi: Lithuanian Minister of Agriculture His Excellency Kostutis Navikas stressed the importance of Lithuania’s participation in the first Abu Dhabi International Food Fair. He said the exhibition reflects the UAE’s interest and wise leadership in strengthening all requirements for the development of the agricultural sector to provide food security and the utilization of modern technologies in the agricultural and food industries.

He emphasized that Lithuania has all the necessary conditions to make it the best food destination for partners who put quality, sustainability and innovation at the top of their list.
He pointed out that Lithuania’s food industry has greatly contributed to economic growth, as Lithuania’s agricultural industry is twice the size of other European countries. According to Eurostat estimates, the sector contributed 3.7% of Lithuania’s GDP in 2020, with its value added increasing to a record 1.5 billion euros per year.
His Excellency stated, “Agriculture and food trade are of great importance and contribution all over the world, and besides that, food is a basic need. The sector is characterized by the breadth and diversity of its innovative approaches. Lithuania has the capacity to maximize To take advantage of this vital sector, has access to the global market from its vast gates and make the best use of its rich natural resources by following researched scientific methods and modern technological techniques.”
“As Lithuania benefits from a huge export potential, organic farming helps create opportunities for diversification and innovation in the food trade sector,” said the Minister of Agriculture of Lithuania.
He added, “In 2021, the rate of Lithuanian food exports to the UAE increased by 32.8%, equivalent to about 8.5 million euros, which shows the great potential for the final export of high-quality agricultural products from the country.
He concluded by saying: “Innovations in the field of food industry play an important role in the prosperity of Lithuania’s exports. The country continues to develop high-quality food products based on modern technological techniques and new production methods.”
