WICHITA, Kansas (KWCH) – Thursday night’s Morgan Wallen concert at INTRUST Bank Arena was the first sold-out performance at the downtown Wichita venue since early 2020 before the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The sold-out crowd felt great. Everyone enjoyed the night with a smile on their face and it felt really good,” said Christine Pileckas, Director of Bookings and Marketing at INTRUST Bank Arena.
The concert brought about 12,000 people to the stage and kicked off a busy stretch of Wichita. With live entertainment bouncing back from the pandemic, more will happen this weekend, with more planned for next year.
After Thursday night’s show, Pileckas said, it felt like Wichita’s live entertainment was back in full swing.
The “West Fest” featuring Ice Cube and Cypress Hill brought thousands to the INTRUST Bank Arena on Friday.
It’s not just a benefit to concertgoers and the stage.
“People from all over the state are coming, and it’s a huge draw. It’s just going to have a huge economic impact on the entire community, our hotels, restaurants, local businesses,” Pilekas said. So it feels good to be able to book these shows and bring them in, not only is it obviously a huge success (for the stage), but it’s had a positive impact on the entire Wichita community. “
