Lots of livestock shows and some new entertainment at the Greene County Fairgrounds Thursday.
Morning 4-H/FFA Pig Show at 8:00am and 8:30am in Show Grounds and Clover Kids Rabbit Show at Old Bus Barn East. Then there is the Bucket Calf interview at the Exposition Board Office at 10am, followed by the 4-H/FFA Horse and Pony Show at the Racetrack at 11am.
There will be a barn game north of Clover Hall at 2pm. Greene County Extension 4-H and Youth Coordinator Samantha Hardaway invites all youth to attend and have fun during barn games.
“I know kids find a lot of fun things to do at the fair, which may not necessarily be planned, but it’s a planned activity where kids can run around, play with other kids, and enjoy Some handy playtime. It’s about an hour of fun, and the kids can play some games they might not get to play at school, and have fun with friends at the fair.”
Later that evening, the Greene County 4-H Youth Leaders team will host a sack tournament where even adults can compete. Down by the Barns will conclude with live musical entertainment on Thursdays from 6pm to 9pm. Greene County Fair Committee member Katlynn Mechaelsen talks about the addition.
“His name is Brian Congdon and he’s going to be doing some hits, country and pop. So we’re super excited to have him. There’ll also be Deal’s Hard Cider, from Iowa Craft beer at 818 Brewery in Boone; (and) we’ll be there for free snacks. Grab a lawn chair and sit back and relax.”
Starting today, there will also be free entertainment from Poppin’ Penelope and a new Rondini Magic show. Additionally, Raccoon Valley Radio will continue to provide live coverage of the show on Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Show results will also be displayed on the right side of our website home page under the Greene County Shows tab.
