The Abu Dhabi Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) confirmed that the fine for misuse of real estate in a manner contrary to custom or public morals is AED 25,000, and if the violation is repeated within one year, a fine of AED 50,000 will be imposed from the outset , Regulating the occupation of real estate and housing units in accordance with the law.
DMT calls upon all to work towards combating and eliminating the phenomenon of overcrowding or group housing and the negative impacts that result when groups of people live in housing units that are not proportionate in size to the number of tenants that lead to violations of safety and security procedures and violate public morals .
“A awareness campaign titled ‘Your Home Is Your Responsibility’ was launched in cities and districts across the emirate to address this phenomenon, and an inspection campaign was launched in early 2023 to monitor violators,” the DMT said.
Administrative penalties and fines ranging from 5,000 to 1 million dirhams were allegedly imposed during these campaigns.
DMT calls on the public in the emirate of Abu Dhabi to cooperate in eradicating this phenomenon, monitor violators and report this phenomenon by contacting the Abu Dhabi Government Call Center at 800555.
