Alternative indie rock group 3weeksplay will release their tenth studio album “White River Killer” on September 30th.
Formed in Hallsville in 2006, the band includes Jered Ochoa, rhythm guitar and vocals; John Brenton Arney, lead guitar; Daniel Collier, bass guitar; and Jonathan Dorsey, drums.
Ochoa said they took the time to make the album, perfecting the way they wanted to sound.
“There are 10 songs on this album, which we recorded about a year ago,” Ochoa said. “Our new album is a beautiful melodic masterpiece, sweet enough to make a baby cry.”
The band’s other albums include 2010’s Noon Express, 2011’s Water Tower EP, 2012’s Shaping Up, 2013’s Moon and Tides, 2014’s Electric Whale, ‘Pine Curtain’ “Cherry Steam” in 2016 and 2018.
Bands grew up listening to different types of music.
“Our music is rock, but not that heavy,” Ochoa said. “But it’s not the country either. It’s like being in the middle. Most people can listen.”
Ochoa and his bandmates all grew up in the Longview area.
“We played locally at Backstreet Bar and Grill in downtown Longview, and before we played at Tyler’s Clicks, they went out of business,” Ochoa said.
Since two members of the band now live in Nashville, the band’s local performances are not as frequent.
“What we’ve been trying to do for the last two years since COVID, since two of them have been living in Nashville, if we’re not playing in Tennessee, we’re trying to play on the holidays, like Thanksgiving weekend,” Otto said. Joya said. “I’m trying to talk to everyone, and once we can play, it’s not really going to be too long from now, we’re going to turn it into an album release party.”
Ochoa said the album is available everywhere, including Apple Music, Spotify, Pandora, Amazon Music, Shazam and TouchTunes.
“We spent a lot of time on this album and we really thought a lot of people would like it,” he said. “We’re happy to hear it, and it’s a pleasure for others to hear it.”
