Long-awaited Zayed Sports Championship returns to Erth Abu Dhabi

The Zayed Sports Championship 2023 is an iconic community event held for the first time since 2019, inviting the UAE’s best sporting talents and teams to showcase their skills and compete for an incredible Dhs184,000 in prize money.

Families and friends are also encouraged to come along to soak up the excitement and cheer on the athletes from the sidelines, spanning thrilling competitions in football, boxing, paddle tennis, shooting and swimming.

Guaranteed to be an incredible display of speed, strength and agility, and offering competitions for men, women, children and people of all ages, the highly anticipated competition will be held in Etizan Fitness’ state-of-the-art sports facility.

Established 26 years ago in honor of the UAE’s founding father, the annual Zayed Sports Championship honors Sheikh Zayed’s passion for sport and Ramadan’s kindness, generosity and community-oriented spirit.

Over the past quarter century, this momentous initiative has grown into a remarkable platform for the UAE’s thriving sporting scene. Since its inception in 1997, it has inspired more than 40,000 athletes and 590 teams, welcomed more than 68,000 spectators and handed out a staggering AED 28 million in prize money.

Organized by Erth Abu Dhabi, there is still time for any interested teams and athletes to sign up for one of the five sports that will be held each day after Eid.

Those willing to register for the boxing category can do so through the Emirates Boxing Federation.

Amazing prizes on offer include first prizes of Dhs24,000 for the men’s and women’s soccer teams, Dhs10,000 for first place in shooting, Dhs5,000 for first place in padel, Dhs5,000 for first place in men’s boxing, and Dhs2,500 for first place in youth boxing one.

Mohammed H. Al Kaabi Lt. Gen. (Rtd) Mohammed H. Al Kaabi, Chairman of Erth Abu Dhabi, said: “Under the patronage of Sheikh Mansor and following in the footsteps of our founding father Sheikh Zayed, we are proud to host this year’s 26th Zayed Sports Championships and resume a cherished event after a three-year hiatus.

“This year, there has been a lot of enthusiasm and ambition from budding athletes and fitness enthusiasts alike, and we wish everyone the best of luck.”

Shaikha Al Kaabi, Chief Executive Officer of Erth Abu Dhabi, said: “After a three-year hiatus, Erth Abu Dhabi is delighted to be re-hosting the Sheikh Zayed Championships and continuing its proud tradition for the 26th year.

“Erth Abu Dhabi, formerly the Armed Forces Officers Club and Hotel, has hosted the Sheikh Zayed Championships since its inception in 1997 and it forms an integral part of our history and heritage. Many talented athletes and teams have signed up for the , each game is sure to be packed with unmissable thrills and fascinating displays of sporting prowess.

The 2023 Sheikh Zayed Championships will start on Saturday and run until April 8.

Junior soccer will take place on Saturday, girls’ football March 27-29, cricket March 27-31, boxing March 31 and April 1, swimming The time is April 1st. , the shooting event will be held on April 1, 4 and 8, and the men’s football competition will end on April 2-8.
