He died at the age of 67 after being diagnosed with cancer last August.

“We would like to thank everyone for the support he has given him over the past few months. Your calls, texts and emails have lifted his spirits,” Al and Chris Freedman wrote. “During the course of his illness, he became weaker and more diffuse. But talking to you brought out his playfulness, his sense of humor and his laugh—the old Andy we loved so much.”

The Friedman siblings went on to say of their father: “To us, he was our best friend, our biggest supporter, our inspiration and our hero. Our dear mother Patty with our family dog Riley.”
