Lubbock, Texas (press release) – The Board of Directors of the Lubbock Entertainment and Performing Arts Association (LEPAA) announced today the appointment of Jeff Hunsinger as its new Chief Executive Officer.

“Jeff Hunsinger has demonstrated an ability to drive change in performing arts organizations and unite communities through collaboration,” said LEPAA Board Chair Mark Bass. “He brings the leadership and industry knowledge the organization needs at this time.”

Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, LEPAA’s Chief Executive Officer will provide professional oversight to ensure the organization achieves its vision, mission and strategic goals. In this role, Hunsinger will be responsible for strategic planning, marketing, community outreach, resident partner engagement, planning and fundraising for LEPAA, The Buddy Holly Hall and its programs.

“I am delighted to serve as CEO of the Lubbock Entertainment and Performing Arts Association and Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences. I value LEPAA, Buddy Holly Hall, Lubbock Ballet, Lubbock Independent School District and the The current partnership between the Burke Symphony Orchestra. I am excited about the opportunities ahead and look forward to offering the community all that LEPAA has to offer,” said Hunsinger. “With the support of the community, we will continue our mission of building community through extraordinary experiences, creative collaborations and inclusive access to the arts, entertainment and education.”

“LEPAA’s staff and Board of Directors are excited to have Jeff Hunsinger lead our organization,” said LEPAA Chief Operating Officer Michelle Stephens. “His decades of experience with nonprofit arts organizations will elevate LEPAA and The Buddy Holly Hall.”

Hunsinger has more than 20 years of experience in nonprofit performing arts management and has held leadership positions with the Phoenix Symphony, Fort Wayne Philharmonic, and Arkansas Symphony. Throughout his career, he has successfully led turnaround initiatives focused on improving finances, streamlining operations and enhancing artistic programming.

Most recently, as General Manager of the Phoenix Symphony, Jeff played a key role in the orchestra’s transformation. These changes include new fundraisers and special events such as Sound of Speed, Note Party, Taste Symphony and New Year’s Eve Gala. A new partnership with Arizona State University, as well as new health and wellness initiatives such as the Alzheimer’s Clinical Trial (studying the effect of music on stress levels in people with dementia) and Mind over Music (a study using music as a catalyst education program) teaching STEM subjects to improve educational outcomes) are examples of innovative programs that are critical to turning things around.

After completing his degree at Cal State University, Chico, Hunsinger worked in recording arts and broadcasting for several organizations, including the Aspen Music Festival and School, Edgar Stanton Recording Academy, Banff Arts Center, New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Music Festival, The French Quarter, WWOZ 90.7 FM, Dempsey Film Group, ESPN Sports and NPR/Today Show. He is responsible for recording, radio and video productions for national and international artists, as well as audio productions for film, news and television.

A native of California, Hunsinger studied guitar and clarinet and received a Bachelor of Music degree from Cal State University, Chico, with concentrations in Recording Arts, Music Industry and Business Administration. Jeff Hunsinger and his wife Melita have two children and look forward to being part of the Lubbock community.
