Maan introduces 12 new social start-ups in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi – Authority for Social Contribution – Ma’an, today marks the completion of the sixth phase of the Ma’an Social Incubator (MSI) and the first phase in 2022, where 12 participating start-ups have developed their business ideas .

The 6th cohort was organized as part of a strategic partnership between Ma’an and startAD, a business accelerator based at NYU Abu Dhabi.

Under the theme “Entrepreneurship for Social Good”, Group 6 helps empower and equip these social entrepreneurs to develop innovative solutions for the financial literacy and educational technology (EdTech) sectors.

The event was attended by Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Community Development, and Salama Al Ameemi, Director General of Ma’an City.

Twice a year, MSI selects promising start-ups and provides them with resources and support to help them grow as they seek to develop high-impact solutions and scale sustainable businesses that benefit society. Group 6 was selected based on their exciting and creative proposals to develop projects that will enable the third sector (NGO) to flourish in Abu Dhabi and inspire social entrepreneurs for strong, active and connected communities development as well as growth and development. Al Ameemi said: “We are delighted to witness today the successful demo day of the 6th batch of 12 startups from the Ma’an Social Incubator. With the support of the incubator and its partners, they have achieved great success in bringing inspiring and innovative ideas. Great strides and projects, and addressing the challenges of financial literacy and educational technology in a way that is destined to have real societal impact.”

“These impacts demonstrate the effectiveness of the Department of Community Development’s strategy to support ‘third sector’ development as a means of bringing communities together to enable entrepreneurs and innovators to address Abu Dhabi’s social priorities,” she said. added.
