Machar of South Sudan says “peace busters” removed him from the party. South Sudan News

The country’s vice president said that those who announced his removal were no longer members of the movement’s military command committee.

South Sudan’s Vice President Rick Machar accused the rival military leaders and they declared He was deposed As leaders of political parties and armed forces, trying to stop the peace process in the country.

On Wednesday, the military branch of his SPLM/A-IO movement stated that Machar had been dismissed. Machar had helped his partner, President Salvakir, reach a peace agreement in 2018 and subsequently formed a coalition government. To undermine reform.

But in a rebuttal issued later that day, Machar stated that the person who made the statement was no longer a member of the movement’s military command committee.

Machar said in a statement issued after the Politburo meeting of his party: “It is regrettable that the declaration was designed and facilitated by people who destroy the peace.” He thought the declaration was “unfortunate.”

“The Politburo assures SPLM/Liberation Army (IO) members and the entire people of South Sudan that the situation is under control,” he added.

Machar said that the main purpose of this move is to prevent troops from being included in the national headquarters, which is one of the prominent key goals of the peace agreement.

In the announcement of the removal of Machar, his opponents stated that the party’s chief of staff, Lieutenant General Simon Gatwick Durr, was nominated as interim party leader.

Worry about instability

Political analysts say that because the military still has differences and some combat groups refuse to sign a peace agreement, the latest split in the Machar movement may destabilize.

The youngest country in the world is facing economic disaster and the worst hunger crisis since independence. Thousands of people endure famine-like conditions.

There have been calls for a peaceful public uprising to overthrow the current regime and end the long-term political and economic crisis.

South Sudan gained independence from Sudan in 2011, but two years later, the army loyal to Kiel and Machar clashed in the capital and fell into fighting.

This triggered the massacre of hundreds of civilians in Juba from the Nuer ethnic group of Machar, and led to brutal ethnic violence and retaliatory killings.

The bloodshed turned into a civil war, which killed 400,000 people and triggered the biggest refugee crisis in Africa since the 1994 Rwanda genocide.

In 2018, after a series of peace agreements failed and the ceasefire agreement was violated, a new ceasefire agreement suspended fighting.

According to this arrangement, Machar entered another coalition government in February 2020 and served as Kiel’s deputy.
