Mario Dumaual – Pillar of Entertainment News Reporting — ABS-CBN

MANILA, Philippines – ABS-CBN issued a statement saying it was “deeply saddened” by the death of veteran showbiz reporter Mario Dumaual.

In a statement released last night, the Kapamilia content creator described Mario as a mainstay of entertainment news coverage in the country.

“ABS-CBN and ABS-CBN News are deeply saddened by the passing of one of our senior reporters, Mario Dumaual,” the statement said.

“In the more than three decades Mario has been with the ABS-CBN news team, he has been a pillar of entertainment news coverage and a respected mentor to his colleagues.

“Mario was an excellent and passionate reporter, a loyal and dedicated friend, and a devoted family man who left a lasting legacy for the industry.

“Thank you and goodbye to our Capamiglia, Mario Dumar.”

Mario died at the age of 64.

He had a heart attack last month and was hospitalized.

“It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Mario Dumar – Dad is his wife Cherie and children Luigi, Miguel, Maxine, William and Sesha; Vovo is his grandsons Skye, Aron Zo and Tully; Yayo is his sibling,” said one Mario fan. The family posted the news on his Facebook account.

“Mario, who would have turned 65 on July 31, died of septic shock on Wednesday, July 5 at 8.01am. He had been battling a serious fungal infection which was part of his recovery from a heart attack. Complications. He was quarantined at the Philippine Heart Center for a month.

“Dad was strong, he fought and he got over heart attacks and cardiac arrest. He always said he wanted to go home because he missed us, his family. But the infection overwhelmed his body’s ability to recover.

“We take comfort in knowing that we are always there for him, waiting for him, and that as long as he feels our love, he knows our home is his home. We also go out of our way to let him know that he is loved by friends in the industry. Even his love.” The kind stranger has been praying and helping for his recovery.

“Dad was our pillar and we relied heavily on him. But he also nurtured us to be strong, capable, and to be the best version of ourselves. In addition to us his family, we think he left a legacy in entertainment journalism He made us proud as journalist Mario Dumaual, but ultimately more importantly as a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

“Our family will share details of Dad’s wake in the coming days.”
