Mauritius has announced further easing of Covid restrictions in response to its successful vaccination campaign and the resulting low infection rate.
From July 1, the requirements for masks will be relaxed. However, masks are mandatory in public places such as hospitals, ports, airports and public transport. Additionally, arrival testing has been waived for vaccinated and unvaccinated passengers.
More than half a million tourists have flocked to this paradise island since Mauritius reopened its borders on October 1, 2021. The country’s double-vaccination rate is now over 90 percent, and about two-thirds of all people over the age of 18 have also received a booster shot.
Mauritius sees huge demand from discerning international travelers who have chosen the sun-drenched gem of the Indian Ocean for its stunning scenery, safety and security.
Arvind Bundhun, Director General of Tourism Mauritius said: “We are very pleased to note that we have reached the milestone of over half a million tourists since 1 October. I am confident that our post-pandemic recovery is well underway and Bookings in the second half of 2022 will be stimulated as health measures are eased.” – arab trade news agency
