Mauritius records over 1 million bookings in 12 months

[ad_1]

Mauritius has surpassed one million bookings from 1 January 2022 to 1 January 2023, marking a joint marketing initiative led by Deputy Prime Minister Louis Steven Obeegadoo, MTPA and the private sector.

Tourism normally accounts for nearly 24 percent of the country’s gross domestic product, and the government has set a target of 1.4 million tourists by 2023.

MTPA Director Arvind Bundhun said: “I would like to thank all our partners in the hospitality industry whose hard work and dedication helped Mauritius reach the one million visitor milestone despite all the challenges we faced.”

“This proves that when we pull together we can rise to any challenge. Mauritius is now firmly established as one of the most inspiring destinations in the world and we look forward to welcoming returning and new visitors to our shores this year to experience our series of offers.

“Now that the tourism industry is free to operate, Mauritius will reemerge as one of the world’s most popular destinations for leisure, business and long-term travelers, including digital nomads,” he added.

A major success for 2022 was the launch of the Premium Visa program to attract the growing number of digital nomads; a thousand visas had already been issued by the end of the year.

Potential international home buyers are encouraged to relocate to Mauritius through various real estate schemes that grant permanent residency to foreign home buyers in Mauritius. They can also generate income through these properties through a rental pool. International hotel brands are investing in Mauritius under the scheme, which is a win-win for brands, investors and tourists looking to make Mauritius their long-term home.

“Mauritius is uniquely positioned to benefit from the growing demand for sustainable and eco-friendly holidays and fulfill the desire to experience destinations with strong historical, cultural and natural attractions,” said Arvind Bundhun.

“Mauritius is not only the world’s premier high-return luxury holiday destination, it is also one of the best places for business and investment. We are delighted to welcome over one million visitors in 2023 and look forward to achieving the challenging challenges we have set for ourselves sexual goals.” – trade arab news agency
