Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s engagement photos were revealed to the world in November 2017, just a year after they first met.
The dress chosen by Ralph & Russo, shot by Alexi Lubomirski, was reported to cost $75,000, or around £62,000.The dress is a stunning sheer dress with feather detailing and a ruffled skirt from the London designer’s AW17 collection, each Express.co.uk.
Captivating by royal standards, the image certainly caught the attention of fans because, according to the photographer, the images looked “approachable and resonant”.
Contrary to the spectacle of the shoot, many found the gown’s extravagance to have nothing to do with being “relevant.” Many took to social media platforms to express their displeasure with the filming after surviving the financial crisis.
Richard Palmer tweeted at the time: “Just a message that Kensington Palace has been asked multiple times about the £56,000 price tag of Meghan Markle’s gown but has chosen not to comment.”
One user commented: “Apparently Meghan Markle’s engagement photo shoot dress cost £45,000 – the same amount as my student loan debt.”
Another user tweeted: “Meghan Markle allegedly wore a dress in her engagement photo that made more than my annual income…before taxes!”
