Government-mandated changes to Mexican airport fees will affect all company tariffs, not just passenger charges, as per an anonymous source. President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador’s administration has altered the formula for airport tariff price caps, encompassing passenger fees (TUA) and other services like runway usage and leasing spaces.
The companies are awaiting a meeting with the Infrastructure, Communications, and Transport Ministry for clarity on the impact, as the government’s communication was unclear.
While tariff negotiations occur every five years, updated every six months for inflation, operators claim these changes were unilateral.
Publicly traded airport operators, including Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste, Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico, and Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte, are currently assessing the situation without providing further details.
