MG Motor has confirmed that the British-born brand will produce a production version of its cutting-edge all-electric Cyberster concept.
Co-developed by the customer and MG, and debuting in 2021, the Cyberster is a two-door, two-seater sports car that combines MG’s brand heritage with future plans.
Developed by the renowned SAIC Design Center, the Cyberster is inspired by the classic MGB Roadster. Cyberster has a futuristic look and its youthful, sharp and bold character is emphasized in multiple ways. The highlight of the front design is the headlights, which complement the slim grille and scissor doors. The taillight design draws on modern art and the United Nations flag to give the rear of the car a unique look and feel, while the upturned ducktail maximizes the car’s aerodynamic capabilities.
25 elements
Led by Shao Jingfeng, Global Executive Director of SAIC Design Center, the project aims to introduce a new roadster and a personalized lifestyle car experience. This is achieved through the first co-creation organization established by MG. Designed with input from users and expert designers in mind, the 25 main elements and 97 sub-elements of the interior were created together, taking customer engagement and personalization to a new level.
Tom Lee, Managing Director of MG Middle East, commented: “We’ve been planning to bring back the brand’s strong British heritage and classic two-door sport design with a contemporary twist; the Cyberster does just that. Original concept, now has become a reality. This two-door sports car will bridge the gap between our rich history and our progress towards the future of mobility. I am thrilled to hear that our customers are demanding MG’s classic design and I look forward to it Once ready to bring this model to the area.”
Debuting in 2021, the Cyberster has a range of around 800km and a 0-100km/h acceleration time of less than 3 seconds. The car will be equipped with 5G connectivity and an e-sports cockpit, which will be jointly built by MG and Bilibili e-sports. More details will be announced in due course. — arab trade news agency
