On Monday, it was announced that Michael B. Jordan and Serena Williams had joined forces to bring some coins to the lucky HBCU students.
According to @blavity, Michael and Serena worked together to provide HBCU alumni and students with the opportunity to win up to $1 million in prize money from the “Michael B Jordan’s Invesco QQQ Legacy Classic Competition”. Bravetti reports.
“HBCU is an integral part of our education ecosystem and has long been a center of entrepreneurial excellence. We are delighted to be working with Michael B. Jordan and MaC Ventures to highlight outstanding students and alumni founders,” Serena Ventures General Partner Alison Stillman told Blavity.
The venture capital firm Mac and Serena Williams’ investment firm Serena Ventures is also collaborating with Jordan on this work.
The winner will be announced during the intermission of the QQQ Traditional Classic Basketball Showcase Finals in Invesco, New Jersey on December 18th.
After winning, “Executives from MaC Ventures, Serena Ventures, Investco, Thirty-5 Ventures, Harlem Capital Partners, and Cake Ventures will continue to work with the winners in the coming months.”
Talking about Out of their love for HBCU, the Carters also cooperated to give back to the HBCU school. Jay Z and Beyoncé teamed up with Tiffany & Co. to pledge a total of US$2 million in funding to five universities.
Jay-Z works through his Shawn Carter Foundation, and Beyoncé works through her BeyGood organization. The scholarship funds will be used for students studying in the arts and creative fields. The “About Love” scholarship will be awarded to students studying at Norfolk State University, Bennett College, University of Arkansas Pine Bluff, Lincoln University and Central State University.
