The Middle East is projected to have the second-highest ammonia capacity addition globally, behind Asia, contributing approximately 9.28 metric tons of global new and expanded ammonia capacity additions by 2030.
According to leading data and analytics firm GlobalData, major capacity additions in the Middle East will come from Iran, with new and expanded capacity adding 4.96 million tonnes per year (mtpa) to 2030.
At the same time, Asia is expected to lead the global ammonia industry in new and expanded capacity growth by 2030, accounting for 20%.
Asia will have 9.93 mtpa
GlobalData’s report “Ammonia Market Capacity and Capital Expenditure (CapEx) Market Forecast by Regions, Key Countries and Companies, Feedstocks, Key Plans and Announced Projects 2022-2030” shows that 2022-2030 Total ammonia production capacity in Asia is expected to reach 9.93 metric tons by 2030.
Of the newly added capacity, 9.72 mtpa came from new-build projects and the remaining capacity came from expansion projects.
Teja Pappoppula, Oil and Gas Analyst at GlobalData, commented: “Asia will continue to lead the global ammonia market as economic growth in the region drives more new projects.”
Africa ranks third with 8.11 metric tons of new and expanded capacity by 2030. Of this, most of the ammonia capacity addition will come from new-build projects. — arab trade news agency
